Waiting for Appa Update

Waiting for Appa was not an easy book to write. Though there were many aspects of the book that were completely fictional (my father is alive and healthy), there were many aspects that were painful to write. This was especially true for the high school period, which I skipped in the book.

I wasn't picked on all the time, but some kids called me "space cadet" after I worked for NASA on the Space Station program. It contributed to my feeling of isolation. But, I had some good friends, too.

My family life was also going through a lot of turbulence and financial difficulties. All these things made it a very unhappy period for me. So, I skipped over it, but now, after I re-read it, I realized that I need to put that period back into the book.

I'm planning to work on it this year sometimes, but who can say?

Wish me luck.

P.S. - I don't like the style of writing I was trying to emulate in 2003 (when I wrote the first draft) or 2008 (when I edited it to publish it). So, it'll be something quite different. I just don't know.
